Recognising ourselves is HARD

I will not say that I have seen most people’s struggles to be around their focus or their attention. If anything Decision-making seems to be at the core a lot of the time.

But the tippy toppy of the iceberg is - Recognising ourselves in our wins -. I am not talking about bragging, I am talking about having a way to gently celebrate good things you have done so that you remember them too.

Overnight change to this can feel quite hard, because it’s a practise. A repitition of recognising our strengths, our wins, the things we excelled at and not automatically allow us to always got to the negatives.

This may even feel completely new or even scary. If the stories around us were focused on our mistakes and inabilities, recognising our strengths may need some support.

At ADDCA we learned to use the https://www.viacharacter.org/ via character strengths test.

Now this test does often bring up frustrations, emotions and even sadness. You may not even believe the strengths listed even though many around you have confirmed them over the years.

You may even go straight to the bottom strengths and penalise yourself over them. The urge to do so may not be the one to fall for. Instead, seek to get slightly uncomfortable to list examples of your top strengths.
