Certified vs Accredited
You are looking for an ADHD coach, good luck. Back in 2017 I was referred to one and it was hard work. However, it also took me 6 months to reach out to her and I believe many of you do the same.
My gentle reminder to you is to contact at least 3 coaches, with or credentials is up to you. There are several accreditation bodies who oversee and share their expected ethics of their coaches. This also means there is a very minor but useful legal level of protection towards our coachees.
PS: A certification is a completion of your course, and accreditation is an official body you adhere to and are a member of.
There was a time where I saw ICF as a pyramid scheme, until I started to get FTSE 100 companies hiring me. On top of that, doing exams and having to prove continuous learning is an incredible accountability level that sets caring coaches apart from others.
I have now decided that accreditation is essential in my eyes and I require it for any coach I refer people to. So if you are looking for a coach, CHECK their ACCREDITATION and not just certifications.
